Return to the Pubs (episode II)

The Waterman and beyond

Pint with ordering instructions
at the Waterman

Finding myself once again in the Haymakers, my friend and I decided to go for a walk. We elected for a cheeky pint in the Waterman. Once we got the track and trace out of the way we were shown to a table and invited to download the City Club app (free to download). The Waterman also features an easy to navigate one way system. Ordering from the app was easy enough. My one complaint was that ales are not named on the app, just listed as either house or guest ales. Luckily staff were on hand to tell us what was what. One other difference with the Waterman is that all drinks are served in plastic glasses and all food is served in disposable containers. The fish and chips were still lovely however.

Crystal clear in the Dev

Fed and watered we headed home, stopping at one of our regular haunts on the way: the Devonshire Arms, just off Mill Road. A clever one way system and excellent table service, as well as delicious beer. Just a quick side note regarding table service. I have seen people complaining about it but I cannot see an issue. Perhaps it is because I am used to sitting in pubs and bars around the world where it is table service or no service.
