Get involved

CAMRA is volunteer-led, and all our local branch activities are done by volunteers. The most prominent aspect of that are our beer festivals – we always need volunteers for those. But the branch does more than just that – we’re active throughout the year, campaigning to protect pubs and promoting real ale, cider and perry.

One way to get involved is to come along to one of our monthly meetings, or one of our other events.

The quickest is to provide us with a beer score next time you’re in the pub. Beer scores help us keep track of how the pubs in our area are changing – which pubs are improving and which might be declining. It also helps us choose our Pub of the Year award and our entries for the Good Beer Guide.

Staying in the pub, if you know of a change at a pub (or something that’s about to happen) you can help us keep up to date by dropping us a line or providing an update through WhatPub.

If you fancy a slightly more involved role, we’re always looking for people to help deliver Ale magazine to pubs. As well as delivering the magazine it’s a chance to pop in to pubs and see what’s going on. If you feel like writing an article for the magazine our editor would love to hear from you.

As well as pubs we also have a number breweries in our branch area. CAMRA aims to appoint a brewery liaison officer, who works with the brewery to keep both CAMRA and the brewery up to date. If you’re interested in doing this then please contact the branch.

If none of that appeals you can still help the campaign in a very simple way: pop to the pub and have a drink.
