Pub news round up

The Red Lion, Swaffham Prior reopened recently under new licensees John and Lana. The Shed, Lode is currently closed following the departure of licensee Sarah. The Lion and Lamb in Milton which had a new licensee in February has recently repeated the process when Jason replaced Samantha as manager. Greene King are seeking new tenants for the Duchess of Cambridge (formerly Hudson’s Ale House) in Trumpington and for the Clarendon Arms, Clarendon Street. Admiral Taverns’ website says that they are seeking new licensees for the Navigator in Little Shelford.

After 30 years as licensee of the Barley Mow in Histon, Dore McCann has retired. The pub will undergo a major refurbishment and then reopen as part of Greene King’s Hive Pubs franchise.

There’s now somewhere in the new Eddington district of Cambridge where you can enjoy cask ale. Cambscuisine have opened the Astronomer on the ground floor of the Hyatt Centric Hotel. The cask ale will be Orion, a new beer from Milton Brewery, and will be served direct from the cask.

The St Radegund on King Street still has a sign in the window saying “20+ Taps. Keg, Cask, Ciders, Wines and much more. Opening Soon.” We have had false dawns before for the Rad; let’s hope that we’ll be inside Cambridge’s smallest pub again soon.
