This is just a short mid-month email to inform you about a delay to our AGM and to give you an update on our May beer festival. At the end there’s a short list of upcoming events. There will be a full monthly email in around ten days.
Due to a bookings clash we have pushed back our 2022 Annual General Meeting to Wednesday 16 March from 8 in the NCI Centre on Holland Street. The AGM will hear reports from our branch officers, will elect the committee members and officers to run the branch for the next year and of course it’s also a chance to socialise. All branch members are welcome to attend. Although we always welcome new volunteers, you won’t be pressed-ganged to do more.
Cambridge Beer Festival
Although many Covid restrictions have been lifted we are experiencing significant new challenges in putting on our May Beer Festival. Some of the infrastructure suppliers we’ve worked with for many years are no longer trading or are unable to supply us this year. Those that can supply are quoting substantially higher prices, partly due to energy costs, general labour shortages and the fact that the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations are shortly after the festival.
But the beer festival means a lot to us and we know that it means a lot to you too. We have all badly missed it these past two years. Despite the additional challenges we are planning to hold the festival on Jesus Green from Monday 23 to Saturday 28 May. We are currently progressing our plans in the hope that we can overcome the extra challenges we are facing this year. We should know fairly soon if we can or cannot go ahead and will let you know as soon as we know for sure. In the meantime, put the dates in your diary to attend the festival and hopefully to volunteer for some sessions too. Our festival is organised and run by volunteers. It wouldn’t happen without people giving up their time to make it happen.
