Here’s news of some of what’s happening in and around our branch area over the next few weeks.
Wylde Sky Brewery and Taproom
Wylde Sky recently started brewing in Unit 8A on the Grip Industrial Estate, Linton. In mid-November it will be opening its own taproom that you’ll be able to visit on Thursday and Friday evenings and on Saturdays. Its first beers were a Saison and an APA. A Kölsch style beer is next in line.
Our November monthly meeting will be at the Earl of Beaconsfield on Mill Road from 8pm on Tuesday 13 November. Our monthly meetings, on the second Tuesday of the month, are open to all branch members. Feel free to attend, hear what’s going on and have a chat over a beer or two. December’s meeting will be at the Maypole on Portugal Place.
Our branch holds its Annual General Meeting in November. This year it’s on Tuesday 20 from 8pm in the Bramwell Lounge of the University Social Club on Mill Lane. We’ll receive the branch accounts and reports from some of our officers and elect people to run the branch for the next year. There’ll also be a free buffet.
Good Beer Guide
We’re currently at the nomination stage for the 2020 Good Beer Guide. Branch members can nominate the pubs they have visited this year that they think should be considered. Pubs need multiple nominations to get shortlisted. Nominating, which runs until 20 November, can be done in person at our AGM or online. From 24 November you’ll be able to use the same site to mark the shortlisted pubs.
Cambridge & District CAMRA beer festivals
The biggest branch event this month is Cambridge Beer Festival Winter. It takes place in the University Social Club on Mill Lane 14–17 November. Although we haven’t previously held a festival in November we hope that this festival will take the best bits of our Octoberfest and Winter Ale Festival and roll them into one.
