What’s happening in August?

Here’s news of some of what’s happening in and around our branch area over the next few weeks.

Monthly meetings

Our August monthly meeting will be at the Chequers in Orwell from 8pm on Tuesday 14 August. Our monthly meetings, on the second Tuesday of the month, are open to all branch members. Feel free to attend, hear what’s going on and have a chat over a beer or two. September’s meeting will be at the Three Hills in Bartlow.

Saturday social crawl

Burwell, Reach and the Swaffhams

Our next strolling social event will be on Saturday 18 August and will feature some of the pubs along the route of the Stagecoach No. 10 bus. Participants can join us and leave us as they wish but as there is only one bus an hour the schedule will be more restrictive than usual. We will start at noon at the Anchor before moving on to the Fox and the Five Bells. Depending on how long we spend in the Burwell pubs there are some others on the route home that we’ll try to visit: the Dyke’s End in Reach, the Red Lion in Swaffham Prior and the Black Horse in Swaffham Bulbeck. For more information, e-mail.

It will take place in the University Social Club on Mill Lane and will run from 14–17 November. Put it in your diaries! The plan is that in future we will run two festivals a year with six months between them.
