December Strolling Social – Postponed.

18 December 2021

Due to the developing situation we have postponed Saturday’s festive Strolling Social in Bury St Edmunds until next December.

On Saturday 18th December we are having our pre-Christmas strolling social around Bury St Edmunds. Unless you are exempt, please bring a face mask as some pubs may require us to wear them when not seated. All the pubs we will be visiting have outdoor drinking areas.

All timings are approximate.

If you are traveling to Bury St Edmunds by train from Cambridge the 11:47, arriving at 12:25, is the most suitable.

We will start our stroll at the Old Cannon Brewery on Cannon Street where you can try the beers they brew on site. 12:35-13:20.

We will then try to get a half at Britain’s smallest pub, the Nutshell on The Traverse. The Nutshell has a historic interior of national importance. 13:30-14:00.

Our third stop will be the Rose & Crown on Whiting Street. A Greene King pub adjacent to their Westgate brewery, it has a historic interior of regional importance. 14:05-14:50.

We will then move on to Oakes Barn on St Andrew Street South. 14:55-15:40.

Our next stop is my favorite Bury St Edmunds pub, the Dove on Hospital Road. It has twice been CAMRA’s East Anglia Region Pub of the Year. 15:50-17:50.

Our last stop is the Beerhouse on Tayfen Road where the Brewshed brewery is based. 18:10-18:50.

Trains returning to Cambridge include those at 18:57 and 19:57.
