Well hello, happy ALE readers!
So here we join you on colder evenings with nights drawing in ever earlier but wait – that must mean it's coming close to that time of year again. Yes, that's right; the Cambridge Winter Ale Festival is nearly upon us and looks to be one wintry destination worth braving the cold for.
We have a new-look Festival with new management. The venue – the University Social Club – is the same but the beer selection has greatly changed, this year sporting a delicious range of specifically wintry ales. Now don't fret if this conjures up images of dark and heavy beers that aren't to your taste as we'll have something for everyone on offer – with a wide combination of pale to dark colours and high to low ABVs, we've made sure there is something for all.....and, if in doubt, we have a brilliant selection of foreign beers (a personal favourite) and ciders, including made-on-site mulled cider.
Mainly we hope that a wonderful drinking atmosphere will be yours to find as we aren't just campaigning for Real Ale but a Real Drinking experience. Too often we hear and read about binge drinking and I believe this is because people haven't learnt the joys of Real Drinking. So hopefully you'll join us for a traditional drink of many new beers that are firsts for a Cambridge Festival and some which are limited to this Festival and one other only (e.g. Pitfield Anniversary Ale)
I will be waiting to share a pint with good company
