Over 3000 customers poured into the University Social Club for the 14th Cambridge
Winter Ale festival back in January. Between them they supped 8200 pints of real ale,
about the same as last year, but cider sales were 30% up and an extra 10 cases of
foreign beer had to be added to the original 20.
The Social Club themselves also did very well with their own bar as well as selling lots
of their lovely grub. Both the Friday and Saturday lunchtimes were noticeably busier than
in past years, with the fire limit nearly being reached on the latter.
Take down was completed in record time with 20 folk working hard to leave the
Club looking immaculate; organiser Stewart Sidaway says a huge thank you to all the unpaid volunteers
who made the Festival such a success.
