After a chat and arranging to pick some ale up from him, I thought it would be nice to visit his pub as well, so as myself and a few friends had a night free, we visited the Three Horseshoes, Wensley. What a classic local-flagstone floors, excellent ales and superb food. If you are up this way, pop by and say hello. Although Peter has managers running the pub, you may well find him having a pint!

The ales available at the time were Lidstones Rowley Mild, which is still absolutely excellent, Foresters Session Bitter which is well named (very drinkable), Semer Water which is a real thirst quencher and probably my favourite, and I think the stout was also on.

After a lovely few hours, we headed back to where we were staying, first stopping in the Black Swan hotel in Leyburn for a pint of Black Sheep, which was very good and kept well. Unfortunately loud music pushed us onwards to Bellerby and the Cross Keys which had Copper Dragon and Yorkshire Dales beers on the guest pumps. Both were in excellent condition, and we stayed longer than we meant too.....

This pub was very friendly in its welcome and I would recommend it as well. The sign outside it saying Westmoreland Branch pub of the year 2007 probably gave something away though!!!

It was lovely to bump into Peter again. Look out for Wensleydale beers in the Cambridge area as he has plans to bring some down, and also at the 2008 summer beer festival!

Cheers
