Nick is an unashamed eccentric, evidenced by his standing for parliament as a Monster Raving Loony Party candidate. His vast collection of hats hang from the pub ceiling and the whole place is bursting with character as well as good ale and good food (the Baltis on Thursdays are especially recommended).
In the County round, the Waggon beat off competition from the Chequers Little Gransden, the Drapers Arms Peterborough and the West End House Ely. It now goes forward to the East Anglia round of the competition where it's up against:
- Bedfordshire: Engineers Arms, Henlow.
- Essex: Swan, Little Totham.
- Hertfordshire: Land of Liberty, Peace & Plenty, Heronsgate.
- Norfolk: Royal Oak, Poringland.
- Suffolk: Rumburgh Buck, Rumburgh.
