<- The Flying Pig (in 2004)
After a spirited campaign, spearheaded by the landlady of The Pig, Justine
Hatfield, and a group of locals, the owner of both pubs, Punch Taverns, have
announced that they will not be selling the pub sites to the developers.
Punch's Operations Director, Roger Potton, said "We have conducted a
thorough review and, having listened to the licensees and pub regulars, we
have reached the conclusion that the Flying Pig is a great business. Justine
runs a fantastic local which is obviously well supported by the community she
serves and we look forward to joining in their celebrations".

Justine herself told ALE "I cannot begin to tell you how happy we are with this
news, and how grateful to everyone who cared enough to do something on
our behalf. Now we can get back to doing what we do best!".
Both Justine and Punch fully support the rest of the development proposals
for the area which they feel will have major benefits for the local community
and the pubs alike.
