A proposed new young person's venue in The Cloisters shopping centre by the Cambridge Pub Company is to be called the Life Music Bar. It was apparently intended to be open till 2am but it had its application for an alcohol licence turned down by the local magistrates. However upon appeal to Cambridge Crown Court it was approved, with closing at 11pm.
The Plough & Harrow, Littleport, has real ale back on. The Cherry Tree, Haddenham, now has a good choice of beers. The Ship, Soham, has a new landlord. The Angel is still awaiting demolition.
The Boot, Dullingham, has an uncertain future - GK has raised the rent by 67% and the landlady left. There's a temporary manager. Fortunately GK have withdrawn their planning application for change-of-use to a house and will be selling it as a going concern. The villagers have started an Action Group to buy the pub - asking price rumoured as a steep £185,000. It's a true village boozer and well worth saving. [Follow-up]
The Slap Up, Waterbeach, is changing landlord again, the second in a year. The Ancient Shepherds, Fen Ditton, has a new landlord.
