Situated right in the centre of the village, the Bells is an archetypal community pub, very much at the centre of local life. Clubs and societies meet here (there is an especially close affiliation with the cricket team), fundraising takes place for the PTA and others, a cheap pensioners' lunch is offered on Thursdays, there's a crib team, quiz night, trad jazz in the function room twice a month, regular theme nights and so on. Certainly not the sort of pub which just opens its doors and expects customers to make the most of it.
