The competition was organised by CAMRA Huntingdonshire branch on behalf of all the Cambridgeshire branches. The finalists were selected by Cambridgeshire beer drinkers and CAMRA tasters and judged at CAMRA's Booze on the Ouse beer festival at the Burgess Hall in St Ives on Thursday evening 23 September by a celebrity panel: Paul Ainsworth (CAMRA), Tony Hook (Wissey Valley Brewery), Brian Bosworth (Rockingham Brewery), Laura Bundock (BBC Look East), Jason Ablewhite (St Ives Deputy Mayor), and Kevin Reynolds (Councillor, Huntingdon District Council).

The beers nominated for the final judging were:

Fenland (Isle of Ely), Little Downham, Cambridgeshire: Osier Cutter
