- (30-Oct) The Carlton, Carlton Way
(Multimap)
has been taken over by the Cambridge Beer Festival tombola
supremo, Jethro ("Another winner..."), and his partner.
It now stocks Adnams Bitter and Wells Bombardier.
- (30-Oct) Adnams Broadside and Bitter
are now available at the
Blue Ball, which will be hosting the
launch at 6pm on the 6th November
of our long-awaited new local pub guide, the
Best Real Ale Pubs In And Around Cambridgeshire.
- (11-Oct) The Branch's list of
Good Beer Guide 2003 Entries
is now available.
- (10-Oct) Greene King has sold the
Blue Ball in Grantchester to Punch.
Hopefully this will lead to a greater choice of beers and
allow this fine pub to thrive.
ALE 308 (due out around mid-December) will have an article about this.
- (10-Oct) Greene King have again gutted the former Cambridge Arms
on King Street,
this time transforming it from the Cambridge Rattle and Hum
into The Brewery, a "Pizza Bar".
- (7-Sep) the Web edition of
ALE Summer 2002 No. 307 is available.
The printed edition should appear around 21st September.
- (27-Apr) ALE Spring 2002 No. 305 is out.
- (27-Apr) As expected,
the Cambridge magistrates have granted some early morning licences for the
World Cup:
- Henry's, Quayside
- Wheatsheaf, Duxford
- Pemberton Arms, Harston
- Hop Bind, Cottenham
- (12-Apr) In April's mailout to members we included an introduction to
Local Secrets,
whose free membership scheme includes offers at local pubs and restaurants and
CAMRA-specific discounts.

- Possible weekend trip to Batemans Brewery in Lincs.
- Possible day trip to Sarah Hughes Brewery in the Midlands, provisionally in September

- (10-Apr) Our Pub of the Year 2002 will be announced at the opening of the
29th Cambridge Beer Festival.
We're delighted that George Bateman
has accepted our invitation to open the Festival.
- (11-Jan) Much missed...
Sadly, Bill Miller, a bar manager at many Cambridge Beer Festivals, passed away on Sunday.
His funeral will be at Stapleford Parish Church at 11:15 on Thursday 17th January.
He was a tireless worker, fighting the constraints of his afflictions, and will be much missed.
